This was what we were asking for - and why then.
Magic Crazy Bear
Magic Crazy Bear just recently lost her leg, to remove the primary bone cancer tumor, and is doing as well as can be expected. However, with this type of cancer one can not stop with just an amputation, but MUST aggressively continue with chemotherapy and more. Her spirits are great and currently her health OK and stable for now (she manages getting around on three legs fairly well - if not as she once could).
Twice, during every three week cycle, she needs to get a blood test to see if her blood levels are OK and sufficient for the next chemotherapy. When levels of her blood cells is OK, a new chemotherapy session of a very expensive Platinum-containing drug called Carboplatin, and also Pamidronate is administered intravenously.
Every other chemotherapy session, she needs extensive X-rays, and every now and then a CT-scan or RMI scan might be needed. There are also many anti-cancer supplements and medicines she needs to take every day, and several other medical-related expenses, all expensive. She takes about 40 pills each day without complaint. She is on a special anti-cancer diet and taking some experimental drugs.
While the chemotherapy will only continue for another few months, testing, at a reduced level, will have to continue, to monitor for any sign of the cancer's return. WIth Osteosarcoma one can never let down one's guard or it can return.
All this is very expensive. I lost my second job on New Year's Day. With the one remaining, I have not been able to keep up, and we risk not being able to pay for her medical care and housing, obviously, both are needed and the medical care can not be delayed - and must be on an exacting schedule.
To date, I have spend many thousands of dollars [and my very last] on her medical care [I can prove to any skeptics the details and costs]. During the holidays we had to stand in the central town square and solicit funds with Crazybear in a wagon [as she could not walk]. The police stopped us for soliciting without a permit [however, no such permits are available].
I have no insurance, no more savings, no credit nor friends to draw upon further, and more large medical bills to be paid. My job just covers our rent and food, etc. Please help on the 'medical front' for Magic Crazy Bear.
Nothing contributed will go for anything else. If you want to pay directly for a medical service, I can arrange.
Some sample costs - not all, but the more important ones:
Each Chemotherapy session (with two blood tests) every 3 week cycle, costs about $400+ [300 Euro].
The CT scans cost $500+ [375 Euro]; and a RMI scan can cost $800+ [600 Euro].
Crazybear takes about 40 medical supplements and medicines costing a total of $500 [375 Euro]/mo.
*Crazybear is very ill now and WILL need another operation [and VERY soon] to remove a tumor that recurred and it would cost at least $1000 [750E]. Without this, she would not live long, with it she has a chance to live a lot longer with quality of life and love...please, PLEASE, P L E A S E consider helping. On this time is VERY short. If anyone was thinking of helping us out - of helping Magic Crazy Bear -I urge/beg you to NOT wait any further....a week or two from now would likely be too late! We have some, BUT NOT all of what is needed for the operation - please help as there are also tests and follow-up checks after too! Please, for my love Crazybear, now really at risk!
{She wants very much to get back to the mountains - to spend her last years in them [me too]. We are now far away. If you might have a place for us to return to in the Mountains or other similar inspiring nature, let us know - we are happy to work there, house-sit or some other such arrangement. Now, we are focused, as we must be, on her immediate needs in the next months here in the city - on the chemotherapy and diagnostic tests.
