Photos of Magic Crazy Bear - April/May/June 2007

[later as one goes down toward bottom of page]

To show how well she looked and felt up to the end - and how alive and much she wanting to live and fight.

Waiting for the dried salmon treats after a swim.

Picnic in the park she loved most in town.

Meditation [CrazyBear is a Tibetan Buddhist].

Her current favorite pond and forest area we went to every chance we could.

A little tired from hopping like a rabbit, but still in love with the woods.

A chance meeting with an old friend and Crazybear was telling me how excited she is to see her.

A pause on a hiking trail last week. We went 2 Km each way on three legs..

She loved beaches and sand.

A pensive mood in the park.

Her 'baby park' and once the King's hunting grounds.

Sitting in the sun between swims at the pond.

Her first real swim post-op. She was delighted to find she still could just as well -and went in ten times!

When she had all fours here she would dig a deep hole with her forepaws and lie inside of it.

Waiting in a car for her chauffeur to take her to the forest and lake. - April 21, 2007

Below - Some from May, 2007

Looking and feeling good in the park, Mayday.

Magic Crazy Bear taking a long-distance call. She understood there was a human and recognized the voice at the other end..

She loved sandy beaches and it was NOT easy to get her to leave here at the end of any day.

It brought tears to my eyes how long she swam. In her eyes I could clearly read,

"When I swim all four legs work and feel fine!"

On the trail home at the end of the day hopping a bit like a rabbit.

Below - the second week of May, 2007

Resting between swims on a hot day at the lake May 12

A nap on the backpack after a picnic lunch and swim.

A massage and loving hug from a friend in the park.

Hmmmnnn, my favorite snack - dried salmon chips for a picnic lunch at the park.

On a camping trip to avoid the heat and sleep out in nature! A swim in the lake reeds across from our campsite.

nightfall

Nightfall at the campsite. Magic Crazy Bear was SO VERY happy to sleep outdoors again. We cried and hugged a lot. She and I lived two continuous years camping high in the mountains of N. America...a story I will get to soon.

I may not be in perfect health, but I am in perfect spirits here in Nature, were I belong!

tired

After a long walk in very high heat and a loooong cool swim in the lake May 22

One of Magic's closest friends saying good-bye and hoping it is not for the last time...May 23

Magic Bear in Stromovka May 23, her 'babypark' thinking of her world travels, and almost other-worldy travails.

On Crazybear's direct request, we were spending as much time as we could camping - as we once did for such a long, long time - those were, I now realize, the best times of my life - in Nature with my Magic Crazy Bear!

Ah, to be back in the Mountains of Colorado with her again!

Magic Crazy Bear in Nature. One of her favorite lakes for swimming and sleeping under the stars.

We spent most of our last month camping out as we had so many times before. These were bitter-sweet days.

wagon

Crazybear in her wagon to and from the campsite...she is weak and can't walk long distances, if it is hot. It was hot!

May 30 - Magic Crazy Bear goes to the Zoo! Despite being very ill...

zoo1

We spent six hours at the zoo....she loved it...sights and smells, new and old!

zoo2

Crazybear not so happy at the approach of a female wolf...the males got a much better reception!

zoo3

By far the best were the elephants! She cried if I tried to leave and we spent two hours watching them!

zoo3

...the trip to the zoo reminded me of an incident I'd forgotten...we were living high in the Rocky Mts. of N.A., and Magic Crazy Bear had followed the scent of a porcupine to its den and had several barbed quills in the inside of her mouth and nose...but she was so intelligent that she understood that my pulling them out with a pliers [very painfull!] was needed to remove them, and she didn't even make a single cry nor try to stop me as I did so!....

kangaroo

Crazybear was fascinated by the kangaroos and they were as interested in her.

us

The sadness seemed to show in both of our eyes - as does the wear of the struggle...We were out to her favorite 'pub' for chicken pieces with water for her, and nachos with beer for me. We visited several of her favorite places in town that day. At each, everyone who worked there or were 'regulars' knew her and rushed to greet her and offer her pets, greetings and water.

On a trip into Nature and to go swimming despite not being in great shape physically; mentally CrazyBear was the same.

Peter could not say the same, and was showing signs of stress over the potential loss of the love of his life.

Waiting for the campsite to be set up for a stay in Nature...now all Crazybear cared for, other than being with me.

Crazybear swam and swam and swam and then collapsed on the beach to rest up...to go swiming again.

Magic Crazy Bear on her last outing, 2 days before she lost her battle with cancer.

She didn't want to leave - Nature or me. She fought to the end to remain with both.

Oh, Crazybear - If you only knew how much I miss you, love you as always and have you in my heart and mind, always!

Lovers by their favorite lake - two days before Crazybear's death. Peter with endless tears in his eyes.

This last loving moment in Nature is forever seared into my mind.

Magic Crazy Bear's ashes with me on a hike into the mountains. She came with me in my pack the whole way.

I cried a large part of the time, missing her and knowing that she was gone;

and that our love affair has been brought to a tragic and premature end.

In the mountains I wrote poems to her and started a book about our life together and her unique character

Eventually, some of it will be put on this website, along with other photos of happier times.

As the one year annivarsay of Magic Crazy Bear's death approaches in a few days, there is not a dry eye here - nor much happiness.

Time has not, as I knew before her death, lessened the pain!
